Come and dive with friends

When I had the time and the money to start diving, I wanted to learn and then dive with group of people that I would get to know well and would become friends. BSAC, with its club structure fitted the bill perfectly. I have learnt to dive, I have been on great trips and I have made some special friends. If that sounds like what would suit you, then BSAC and Huddersfield bsac 18 will be just right for you.

My training for Ocean Diver, then Sport Diver was a great experience. The support and one to one tuition was exemplary, being tailored to suit my short timescale- nothing was too much trouble

I joined Huddersfield sub aqua club some four years ago at the age of 67 having no previous experience of diving. I proved a great challenge to the club, especially with dry suit diving but they never gave up and offered me nothing but encouragement. I now proudly show off my sports diver qualification but realised I have a long way to go to be a really competent diver but know they will support me all the way.

I joined BSAC Huddersfield after returning to the UK in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic. All of my previous diving had been in warm water and so when I joined the club, the support I received around cold water diving was great. I was able to undertake theory sessions with Ray virtually whilst restrictions were in place and then, when restrictions were eased, Ray was really helpful and a great instructor for getting me comfortable in my drysuit and further supporting my UK diving experience. I’ve managed to squeeze in a couple of club trips too and everyone is friendly, welcoming and happy to help. It’s a great community to be a part of.

I have been a member of Huddersfield Branch since 1966 and seen a lot of people come and go after learning to dive safely. The members now are keen to get back underwater (post Covid) and continue with their training given by a very good group of instructors.

Having learned to dive in my early 50’s with BSAC18, I have been struck by the attention to detail of all the club instructors and the inclusion within the club after initial training. Following completion of training, I have experienced ongoing advice and guidance whenever I have dived. A close knit, professional and inclusive club, I feel privileged to be a member.
