Based in Dunoon Diving with Jason [Wreckspeditions]
After last years successful trip aboard the ‘Starfish Enterprise’ We are returning for a weekend of shallow diving around the Clyde and connected sea lochs perfect for photography or building some sea experience. We will be staying at the Argyll Hotel in Dunoon centre. Sites will be max depth 20m. This trip is suitable for all qualified divers.
Travel up Friday afternoon/evening meeting near McInroy’s Point ferry terminal [ferry runs every 15-20mins] we will cross together to Hunter Quay and down to the Hotel.
Saturday and Sunday morning it’s a short drive to Holy Loch Marina to load the Starfish Enterprise, have a briefing with our skipper and go for x2 dives each day.
The boat is a RHIB so be aware space is limited and their is no protection from the elements or toilet facilities. Given this we will return to shore between dives to be fed, watered, warmed up and use a loo.
We will check out of the hotel before diving Sunday and travel straight to the ferry together after diving.
We will aim to travel in 2s and 3s to reduce fuel costs.
Skipper – Jason Cole [https://www.wreckspeditions.com]
Specific dive sites will be weather permitting but we will aim for a variety of shallow dives [max depth 20m] I hope for a mix of scenic and wreck dives. Dunoon is ideally located on the Clyde with easy access to Loch Long, Loch Goil, Loch Scriven, Gare Loch and Holy Loch as well some of the shallower site in the Clyde itself such as Inverkip jetty – plenty to discover.
The skipper can provide cylinders and only charges for fills so using this option save a lot of car space if you are using a single cylinder setup! If you use A-clamp regs don’t forget adapters! Other than that normal UK Scuba gear required – outside of drysuits the club can usually assist if you need to borrow anything. For sea diving please ensure you have your own computer and a torch incase of poor visibility.
This year I have opted for a Hotel in Dunoon centre [https://www.sgehotelgroup.com/argyll/] as we were a little isolated from pubs and restaurants last year by basing ourselves near the marina. Board is room only, the hotel has 2 restaurants and several others in easy walking distance. Website states there is a car park but it is unclear if this is chargeable.
The skipper has changed how he works slightly for 2023 and has requested full payment at the point of booking to reduce admin time producing invoices, as a result full payment will be required to confirm a place. Price is £200 which will cover diving, accommodation and ferry fees assuming a full boat of 8 divers.
If you need to cancel it is your responsibility to find a suitable substitute. I will always run a reserve list and try to help, but cannot guarantee to find a substitute for you.
Please get in. touch with Alexander Diffley to arrange payment.
This trip is open to all qualified divers. We will not plan to dive deeper than 20m unless all divers agree to this and I am happy all are capable. I want this to be a trip for divers to build experience and get in the sea. Ideally you will have all had an opportunity to experience UK sea diving prior to this trip, if this proves not possible then we will adjust buddy teams appropriately.
