Octopush
Firstly, please would you pass on my
apologies to the committee for my
non-attendance - Theresa and I have taken
the kids to Euro Disney and Paris for the
week!!!!
I thought I ought to provide a few
comments for your agenda item on the
Octopush / Training discussion you're
having as follows:
1. When the agreement to allow Octopush
the 'whole pool' after
9:00pm on a committee meeting night was first made (8th November 2004),
the reasoning behind the decision was two
fold:
a) At the time, the
majority (if not all) of the pool
instructors were also committee members
and they were having trouble getting to
the meeting on time so we moved the start
time to 9:30 giving them 30 minutes to
clear kit away, etc
b) Janice was looking to
organise regular matches and a match only
lasts 30 minutes.
2. As a club, we receive additional
income from Janice for these matches as
she collects £2.00 off each non-local
player.....therefore on a committee night,
we get the Trainee Divers income (for the
1 hour session), the Octopush Players
income and the Octopush Match
income.....thus, theoretically boosting
income overall.
3. The 'incident' as I understand it on
the 13th March wasn't really an incident
at all......the Octopush match that was
underway simply got close to the divers in
the pool....it was immediately stopped and
recommenced some distance away from the
divers to try to keep out of their way.
4. Our Octopush players will be putting
two teams together for the UK Nationals in
June and we need some time when we can
arrange friendly but competitive matches
with players other than the regulars to
allow some skill development.
I hope this helps and that we can continue
with this arrangement??? I'll look
forwards to reading the minutes.
It was one off – but comes down to
discipline of trainees being in pool at
8:00. It was an error on the divers part
not Octopush. |
