Diving Officer's Report
I wrote a report for the August meeting
and then it was cancelled. I will just
write a short add-on.
We have just returned from a week-long
trip to Doune diving the Western Isles of
Hyskeir, Skye and Eigg as well as the
wreck of the Port Napier and the
high-speed drift at Kyle Rhea. It was a
superb trip providing the very best of
British diving. Great viz, loads of fish,
porpoises, dolphins and 13 basking sharks!
I would like to thank Ray Dawson for
organising the trip and spending so much
time preparing risk assessments etc. The
trip went so smoothly, there were no
incidents to report, no major equipment
failure and everyone had a good time. I
was delighted to see the good quality
buddy checks and dive planning and most
divers sticking to their plans. Everyone
seems to be well into the habit of doing
3min safety stops and surfacing within the
pre-agreed time limit.
Excellent! Keep it up everyone.
Kate Falkingham, Diving Officer.
