Matters Arising

  • Compressor Risk Assessment

We are still waiting for progress from the Sports Centre to allow us to re-install the compressor.  Kate will contact Colin to ask about electrics.

  • Octopush T-Shirts

Andy Briggs has still not been able to get the logo from Dave Colley – if not done by next meeting, we will approach the Octopush members for a redesign.

  • 50th Birthday Celebrations

Diane is organising the dinner and Helen confirmed that the maximum liability we stand from the venue is £100 if we don’t meet our minimum commitment of 80

Richard is organising a Dry Dive

  • Vulnerable People

Gary was not present but is hoping to arrange a meeting with the instructors to discuss this situation.  Gary to forward date to Ray Dawson for circulation.

  • Emergency AGM

Invite letters and e-mails were sent last week providing enough notice for next month’s meeting to conduct emergency business regarding Membership Secretary.

Diving Officer's Report

Thanks to Peter for organising the training day at Capernwray.  This included Sport Diver and Dive Leader training.

There was a recent, enjoyable diving trip to St Abbs with no incidents.

5.

Training Officers Report

Congratulations to Sarah Churchman for passing her Dive Leader exam and all recent Sports Divers (too many to name!!!) who have recently passed their qualifications.  Steve Hill had expressed his concern with the difficulties he was having with the time commitment to the role of TO and Kate has now appointed Ray Dawson (who was kind enough to accept) to take over from Steve.

6.

Treasurer's Report

For August we have a surplus of £7.00 meaning year to date, we are in deficit to the value of £264.21 although this includes an exceptional  £500 deposit payment (which should be returned later in the year) for the 50th Anniversary dinner

7.

Equipment Officer's Report

All kit is in acceptable condition and is being replaced when necessary.  Andy Briggs expressed his frustration at still having to ‘man-handle’ all club cylinders every week for filling.  Peter and Ray volunteered to support this task.

8.

Welfare Officer Report

No report.

9.

BSAC Newsletter

Helen Briggs pointed out that you could subscribe to a regular BSAC Head Quarters newsletter by sending an e-mail to bsacmemberemail@bsac.com with the subject line of ‘Subscribe’ and the message including your name, membership number and branch number (0018).

10.

Try Dives

The committee decided not to support the BSAC ‘Come Dive 2004’ event as it was too short notice but it was agreed to discuss a ‘Try-a-Dive- event’ at the next committee meeting with the intent to promote the club and possibly tie in with the 50th Celebrations.
