Compressor Risk Assessment
-
Update from A.Briggs - The Sports Centre have agreed to allow the
compressor back in it's original position subject to a number of
restrictions including the need for all compressor operators to be
trained by the Sports Centre and to be issues with intercoms for
hazard awareness. The Sports Centre will provide the new
isolator and will paint a yellow boundary line around the compressor
and we will not be able to allow anyone other than the approved
members on compressor duty access to this area (maximum of 2
people). Jacques is preparing a new compressor rota and will
arrange appropriate dates for training, etc.

Octopush T-Shirts
-
Dave Colley has
now found the Octopush logo and
will pass it to Stewart later this week to me scanned and the
distributed to get quotes (maximum budget previously agreed on 12th
January 2004 was £4.00 per t-shirt)
-
50th Birthday Celebrations
- The
McAlpine Stadium has been booked for the proposed dinner
Bowling was canselled due to lack of interest
A Waugh raised a point that ALL members should get a t-shirt in the
50th year - to be discussed next month once t-shirt prices are in
(see above point)
- Vulnerable People
-
Gary Exton has circulated BSAC procedures and guidance documents.
Gary stressed the importance that all committee members should read
and understand these policies.
Gary is to organise a meeting with the Training Officer, Diving
Officer and all Instructors to discuss the implications of training
vulnerable people and will report back at the next meeting. We
need to be starting to implement procedures as soon as possible to
gain BSAC approval of our procedures before we can start gaining CRB
checks.
- Octopush
-
Karen Hill is now taking over from Janice as the main organiser of
Octopush. Janice will continue to help out when she can.

Treasurer's Report
-
- Deficit for June of £282.47.
The pool is paid until the end of April and all equipment costs
are up to date. We have sufficient training packs at the
moment and year to date, we are still in a small surplus position
of £179.19
Richard has issued a paying in book and a second cheque book to
Andy Booth. The Cheque book is only for making payments to
BSAC.

Equipment Officer's Report
-
- An agreement was made, in
principle, to try not to replace existing kit with second hand
kit, thereby 'bringing the kit up to date' over time.
-
- Some BC's are going to be
repaired / stitched to make them servicable again.
A number of weights have been donated by Sarah and Martin - many
thanks.

New Member Pack
-
- Helen Briggs has provided an info pack and
Dave Colley has turned it into a booklet and edited it where
necessary. Dave will forward this onto Stewart Leahy to be
placed on the members area of the web site for approval by all
members.
It was also suggested that this booklet could be given to
Try-a-Dive participants as an explanation of what happens next.

Sports Diver Training inclusive materials
-
- Committee again agreed that the
initial fee paid to BSAC18 was to cover the cost of training and
materials to gain the Ocean Diver qualification only.
Additional materials are at a cost to the trainee.
A debate then commenced about what reference book we should be
recommending to Ocean Divers as an appropriate next step....Sarah
suggested that the new Dive Leader book was not sufficiently
technical and she volunteered to bring the manual in for Dave Colley
to assess. The old Sport Diver manual might be better - while
it is still available!!! Dave Colley to report back.
