Matters Arising

  • Garage – SCL has visited the garage and there are several items that are not being claimed by either hirer of the garage….items include fridge-freezer, washing
machine and large table.  These need to be claimed urgently and removed as the space is not being paid for.
  • Garage – SCL has received a new signed agreement and payment from Syd and is awaiting the signed agreement and payment from the summer play scheme people.
  • There was no Lifeguard cover in the pool this evening. Richard Robinson was on the rota but did not contact anyone to inform them of his absence, nor did he organise cover. Sarah Churchman had already informed of her absence. Lee Copley to stress the importance of lifeguard duty and the responsibility of absence cover being sort. We cannot allow anyone in the pool without lifeguard cover.

Diving Officer's Report

  • Having attended a recent Dive Marshalling and Planning SDC I am now more
aware of some of my responsibilities as well as those of our club. One of mine is to appoint a Dive Marshall for any Club Trip and to explain all their responsibilities to them. Obviously I can only do this if everyone lets me know what trips have been planned. I am supposed to be informed of every diving activity carried out by our members or anyone using our equipment. The Club has to be absolutely sure that
it has taken every possible step to ensure that club kit is in the best possible condition and fully serviced. Andy Briggs certainly does his part but it is up to all of us to make sure that we let him know if there is anything at all wrong with any of
the kit. It’s no good just putting stuff back. If you let Andy know, he will ensure that it is put right for next time. If we lend equipment that is faulty, our club is liable
    should an incident happen.

We’ve just  had an excellent weekend in St Abbs and once again I was appalled
by the risks taken by another boat skipper putting divers in where it was far
too rough. If you plan a trip to St Abbs - use Billy’s boat!

    Safe Diving!!

    Kate

Equipment Officer's Report

  • Anyone finding faulty training kit is to hand it directly to Andy Briggs
for repair/service, it is NOT to be replaced in cages.

  • Borrowed kit will be booked out AFTER permission sort from Andy Briggs as kit is going missing. i.e. weights

  • Phil did final air test on compressor and reported all is above standard. Andy Briggs presented Phil with an engraved tankard with thanks from all branch members for
    his hard work.

Consent for under age diver tuition in open water (Dave Colley)

  • As the parent has signed the application forms for the student, consent has already been given for tuition.

  • It was decided that any diver under 16 must be accompanied to Open Water
    Dive Sites by a parent.

Club cheque book availability in treasurer's absence (Andy Booth)

  • Concern for Richards welfare has been noted and further efforts to be made by
Pete Edwards to contact him. If Richard is to be absent for an extended period, a temp treasurer is to be appointed.
