Upcoming and Historical committee meetings from Huddersfield BSAC

9th June 2003, 9:15pm Huddersfield Sports Centre

Minutes from Meeting

1.

Apologies

  • Steve Hill

  • All other committee members are present

2.

Matters Arising

  • Richard Robinson has located all trustees although is having trouble contacting one particular trustee.

  • Solicitor is preparing the necessary documents

  • Garage Insurance - Solicitors view is that the club does not hold any realistic liabilities that require insurance cover - therefore the club does not appear to require any specific insurance other than contents insurance

  • Train the trainer course is 'still in planning' - Dave Colley

  • The ditching of the weight belt complication has been somewhat explained and justified with the explanation that the latest weight belts can be integrated, harnessed, belted, etc.  This point is still to be discussed with Martin re. the train the trainer session above

  • Air cylinders - must either have the black and white checkers or a 'breathing air' sticker to comply with the necessary regulations

  • Refunds of instructors training fees (£70 - instructor foundation course £25 instructor theory exam, £35 open water instructor course, £35 practical instructor exam).  Last month it was proposed that the club refund the Instructor Foundation Course and the Open Water Instructor Course - ie £105.  Payment will be made on successful completion and passing of the qualification.  The committee agreed this structure and noted that these payments apply regardless of the route that the training is followed.

  • Compressor repairs are underway and Andy Briggs is managing.  The compressor cage shall be quoted for once the alterations have been made.

  • D.Colley still to update poster with vinyl lettering

3.

Membership Secretary

  • 2 Octopush people interested

  • Currently 8 due or overdue

  • BSAC HQ expect members to spend £25.00 to purchase the new 'filofax' system when they wish to progress

  • The committee agreed to change our approach to new members...any new members are provided with the course materials up to take them up to Ocean Diver level.  Should they wish to progress onto Sports diver, they will be liable to cover the expected costs charged by BSAC HQ.  Cross over new members will be charged for all relevant new materials

5.

Training Officers Report

  • No try-a-dives

  • 4 trainees are still 'not in contact'

  • We are 'devoid' of new trainees

  • Thanks to Lee Copley for organising the PRM course

  • Lee Copley has also passed the new dive leader course

  • Lee will be e-mailing all with 3 upcoming skill development courses.

6.

Dive planning on the web site (G.Exton / S.Leahy)
