Minutes from Meeting
 
1. Apologies
  • Apologies from Steve Hill, Lee Copley, Chris Hall
  • All other committee members present
  • Others present, Richard Manning, Syd Farrow
2. Matters Arising
  • Octopush situation now resolved
  • 'Train the Trainer' Training for instructors still to be resolved by DaveC
  • Garage - Doesn't appear to be insured in any way.  RR to speak with our solicitors to ascertain what our insurance liabilities and obligations are.  SCL to contact our existing insurers and BSAC once liabilities are known.
3. Membership Secretary
  • 4 members situations are still to be resolved. All other queries have been sorted out.
  • ABooth to forward membership list to KF to send letter to outstanding trainees that may have fallen through the net
4. Diving Officer's Report
  • Recent diving observed to be of an excellent standard
  • Concerns raised regarding the jettisoning of weight belts - suggested that this is discussed at the Train the Trainer session being organised by DaveC / Martin
5. Training Officers Report
  • 4 trainees took to open water recently
  • Chris Marsden passed Sports Diver theory, Gary E will retake
  • 3 trainees to take to open water shortly
  • 3 Trainees in not in contact
  • No try-a-dives since last meeting
  • 3 new members are currently looking to join
6. Treasurer's Report
  • April resulted in a large deficit due to underpayments in March.
  • Year to date is running in surplus £432 at end of April
  • All 'non-diving' assets should be reported to RR to clarify what the club owns and provide a clarity for club assets
7. Equipment Officer's Report
  • Sports centre have acknowledged that they are happy with the compressor being in its existing location
  • Requested that any cylinders borrowed from the club should be returned full
  • All instructors to note the finishing pressures on the masking tape to maximise the efficiency
  • ABriggs to clarify the situation regarding refilling cylinders not with the black and white 'checked' shoulder
8. Refunds for instructor courses and instructor expenses (A Briggs)
  • There is currently no written policy for refund of instructor training fees
  • Committee to consider whether to pay all instruction costs but not exam costs for Open Water training only.  Post Open Water Instructor training to be down to the individual.
  • Instructor expenses - to cover the entrance fee into the site where approved by the training officer only.  Petrol costs are down to private agreement.
9. Compressor cage (A Briggs)
  • The Sports Centre has requested that the cage be replaced...staff at the centre have suggested metal construction
  • ABriggs to gain a quote for fabrication of cage
10. Compressor Filters (A Briggs)
  • The compressor is currently out of service.  The filters are out of date and should not have been used since 1999.  They cannot be re-tested.
  • Options (1) Replace the filters to the compressor and ignore the situation, (2) Arrange for new bespoke fabrication of filter stack, (3) Purchase new filter stack assembly and arrange for fabrication of new mounting - approximately £800.00
  • Committee agreement made to sanction the necessary works to repair the existing system (proposed RR and seconded ABooth) unless suggestions can be made within the next two week to suggest any other options
11. Web site members area accessibility to all members (S Leahy)
  • SCL to contact Martin to set up an autolink to new site from old
  • SCL to register new site with search engines
  • SCL to remove the password protection from the members area.
  • DColley to update poster with web address using vinyl lettering
  • ABooth to e-mail all members who have a registered an e-mail address with a link to the web site.
