RED SEA,
HURGHADA
Phil tells of a right motley crews experiences diving the coral reefs and
wrecks off Hurghada.
After an uneventful journey by mini-bus to
Gatwick 10 divers and 2 non-divers took to the
skies and flew to Hurghada on the
Egyptian Red Sea coast.
Glorious weather and warm seas met the group. We
had decided to take a villa at the Hilton Resort that turned out to be an
excellent choice. Very comfortable, private and with its own pool to drink
lots of beer by.

We had booked to
dive with Emperor Divers and dived from the
Empress Rachell which took us to reefs and wrecks all around the
Hurghada area.
The visibility was not as good as I've seen in past visits to the Red Sea
but it was definitely better than Capernwray on that sites best day!
With
the water temperature at a constant 23 C, wet suits
were the order of the day. Very novel for those who had only ever dived in
dry suits with tons of lead.

The 2 non-divers who
were partners of 2 two of our divers joined us
on a couple of trips.
The most memorable for them, being a day
trip to the wrecks of Abu Nuhas. Not memorable for the diving I might add.
The sea was quite lumpy and they got to know a green bucket very well!!!!
For those who dived the wrecks of the Carnatic and Ghiannias it was one
of the best days of the holiday - well I thought so.

The motley crew on
the right are the intrepid party which consists
of, from the right, Phil (me), Rick, Maurice,
Kate, Marilyn, Paul, Andy, Ann, another Andy,
Colin and Julie (non-diver). Sadly the other
non-diver Sylvia was elsewhere in the hotel when
this picture was taken. All too soon the holiday
was over and back to a very rainy blighty we flew. Some
are already planning to revisit and I hope that holiday is as good as this
one was.
