Huddersfield Sports
Centre, Climbing Wall, Julia Clark!!!!
So,
at a recent trip to St Abbs a few of us
discovered a mutual interested in climbing and
persuaded Lynn that she really needed to give it
a try, thus forming the unofficial BSAC 18 Rock
Climbing division.
Between us we
managed to bring the right amount of spare kit
for Lynn to borrow, Climbing without the shoes
is definitely a challenge!
We warmed up on a
few simple routes then tried some harder ones.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that my
climbing ability hasn’t decreased during the
summer whilst I have been spending more time
diving.
Routes are graded
,so that the easiest are 3, then 4, 5, 5+, 6a,
6b, 6c… and I was delighted to find that the I
can just about do the blue and white 6a.
Lynn took to this
climbing lark like a rat up a drainpipe and
judging by the big grins she has fou nd
another adventure sport that she enjoys. She is
quickly progressing onto harder routes.
Deco was showing off
by running up the routes with the overhangs, so
far these have defeated me but next time I am
going to bags the yellow one before my arms get
too tired.
Future plan for this
offshoot activity include getting together the
weekend to go to Leeds or Sheffield walls and
also some plan to climb outdoors (more equipment
needed for that!)
Anyone who would
like to join us is welcome
